The CCL's team-building tradition of organizing retreats has proven successful once again in the 2023 event. The retreat provided a perfect opportunity for the lab members to step away from their desks and enjoy some nature while reflecting on ongoing projects and creating opportunities for future collaborations.
The first day of the retreat was marked with a productive brainstorming session, where we discussed what we are happy with, and where we want to improve ourselves and the way we work together. We also pitched some ideas which led to multiple collaborations on new projects and events. To end the day on a high note, all of us participated in a fun-filled pub quiz, which tested our knowledge about our lab and fellow colleagues. The winning team deservedly walked away with the trophy (Sweets!).
Day two kicked off with a fascinating workshops on intersectional feminism and how to integrate it into our daily work, followed by a workshop on cloud computing and data sharing. The team then embarked on an afternoon hike. Despite the unexpected snow, we enjoyed the sun and the view from the top. Later we had a competitive ping-pong tournament and spent the evening playing games, bonding, and relaxing.
On the last day, the team devoted more time to their projects, presenting their first results to the entire lab. In summary, the CCL's retreat in Dienten am Hochkönig was a productive and enjoyable experience that helped us grow as a team.
