COMPTEXT is a global community of scholars working at the intersection of computational methods and the social sciences, using text, image, and video as data. Over the course of a vibrant three-day event, this year’s conference featured a rich program of workshops, panel sessions, and networking opportunities.
Day 1 kicked off with a series of hands-on and informational workshops, which were met with high enthusiasm and full of participants. Members explored practical tools and techniques, with sessions ranging from data donations to various computational analytical methods, but also learned about current research environments and challenges.
Days 2 and 3 featured a diverse array of panel presentations and discussions showcasing cutting-edge computational methods and thought-provoking applications. Large language models (LLMs) and artificial intelligence were at the forefront of many conversations, highlighting capabilities that would have seemed out of reach just a few years ago. At the same time, these discussions invited critical reflection on the importance of grounding computational innovations in theory-driven social science, so that we can ensure our methods remain accountable and our claims are rigorous.
Throughout the event, the coffee flowed fast, the conference dinner on Day 2 was filled with great conversation, and the post-conference social gathering was the perfect way to wrap up a vibrant, intellectually stimulating gathering.
We extend our warmest thanks to the sponsors for their generous support and to everyone who made COMPTEXT 2025 a great success.
